Locales

Mayan EDMS locales app helps users customize the interface of the Mayan EDMS to meet their language and localization needs.

Languages

Languages choices

The list of languages choices that can be used for documents is controlled by the setting DOCUMENTS_LANGUAGE_CODES.

This setting defaults to the top spoken languages in 2019 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_languages_by_number_of_native_speakers)

To add or remove languages from the list modify the setting and use the ISO 639-3 code (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_639) of the language.

This setting can be found in the System ‣ Setup ‣ Settings ‣ Documents menu.

For example, to reduce the list to just English and Spanish use:

- eng
- spa

To change the list via a Python settings module use:

DOCUMENTS_LANGUAGE_CODES = ['eng', 'spa']

Default language

The default language used for documents is controlled by the setting DOCUMENTS_LANGUAGE.

This setting can be found in the System ‣ Setup ‣ Settings ‣ Documents menu.

Docker

If using the Docker image, these settings can also be passed to the container as environment variables by adding the MAYAN_ prefix.

Example:

-e MAYAN_DOCUMENTS_LANGUAGE_CODES='["eng", "spa"]'
-e MAYAN_DOCUMENTS_LANGUAGE='spa'
