Support status

Software support levels determine the level of assistance and activity that the software will receive. The support levels vary depending on the age of the series. Below are the support levels for major software series, starting from the most recent.

Support levels

Fully Supported

A series that is fully supported means that complete support is available. This includes technical assistance, bug fixes, security patches, and updates for the latest features.

Technical support will provided to help resolve any issues.

Maintenance

A series that is in maintenance mode is still supported, but with some restrictions. In this support level, only support for severe bugs and security issues will be provided. The no major updates or new features will be included. The series may not be compatible with the latest technologies.

Technical support for this level will be limited.

The maintenance phase is typically the last phase before the product reaches end-of-life.

Extended Support

When a series reaches the extended support phase, regular support is not longer provided. Only sponsored or commercial support is available to fix or backport specific security patches or bug fixes. The series is very likely to not be compatible with the latest technologies.

End of Life

End of life means that all support is discontinued for the series. This means that bug fixes or security patches will not be normally provided. Only under special conditions new version of this series may be released.

The series is more than likely to not be compatible with the latest technologies.
